In the recent times many self-declared Spiritual Gurus are born like mushroom amidst us and they are looked upon as great solace by the mass of gullible people, who are more ‘peace and nirvana hungry’, because their stomachs are full and now looking for something beyond, you know it. These self-proclaimed enlightened Gurus have taken many new “avatars” like Corporate Gurus, Instant Gurus, Mobile Gurus, Global Gurus, you name it, you will find them.
One Guru (I don’t want to name) who has overnight become Global Guru, whose only mantra is to “breathe in and breathe out” (great new invention of him!) is now eyeing to grab Nobel Prize for his Peace/Piece work across the globe! This is the height of the mockery of spirituality. As long as gullible people are there, this kind of Gurus can flourish their business to a peak height. They can not only fool the mass of people but also the people at power. I have never heard a spiritual seeker or a spiritual seer hankering after titles and honours and enjoying it like these modern day self-styled gurus.
Second-hand knowledge of the self gathered from books or gurus can never emancipate a man until its truth is rightly investigated and applied; only direct realisation will do that. Realise yourself, turning the mind inward. – Tripura Rahasya, 18: 89

Just today (05 May 2007), I came across a blog on some Sri Sri Sri or She She She! One thing that really pained me there is that the disciples of a so called enlightened soul, reacting in such a “bastardly way”! I doubt, whether they are doing ’sudarshan kriya’ or ‘rakshash kriya’; they don’t have a simple openness to accept an alternative view. If somebody calls a true monk as ‘monkey’, the monk just laughs with that guy and goes – because the whole world knows that the poor monk is not a monkey! It’s so simple. These so called enlightened souls/gurus are creating another kind of ’subtle goondas’ around us, it seems! Anyway, hypocrisy is not good for the health of this world.
