Now it’s a news and a new history that Bush made to eat shoes in Iraq, on his ‘finale’ farewel visit there, the other day (on Sunday, !4th December 2008). An Iraqui expressing his anger openly throwing shoes at the US President Mr Bush during a press briefing is an eye opener to the entire globe and humanity.Excerpts:
“(Bush’s) appearance at a news conference here was interrupted by an Iraqi journalist who shouted in Arabic — ‘This is a gift from the Iraqis; this is the farewell kiss, you dog’ — and threw one of his shoes at the president, who ducked and narrowly avoided being struck.
As chaos ensued, he threw his other shoe, shouting, ‘This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.’ The second shoe also narrowly missed Bush as Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki stuck out a hand in front of the president’s face to help shield him. Where are we heading towards? It’s time to realize that posed and imposed democracy and development may boomerang back and prove the situation worse than before. In this emerging global world, nobody can act as the brig brother. Mutual trust, tolerance, coexistence are the need of the hour. For the sake of oil, spoiling some country’s soil and people is greed, not the need. Of course, both the sides have their best reasons to play violence. But the ground reality is that violence can give you only a temporary sigh of relief, never the sustained solution. Unfortunately, inspite of Bush’s larger cause and mission talks, a larger part of the globe dubbed him Mr. Butcher Bush. The funniest part was that even in his this final thanks giving visit Mr Bush remarked that ‘inspite of the progress made there, the war is not yet over.’ Many times we reap, what we sow. Stray incidents are not mere stray incidents to be brushed aside. Our world leaders, politicians need to introspect themselves to bring true secualr global progress, development, and peace on this earth. Interdependence is the order of the day; independence, isolation and insulation are mere empty words.
Any way, one should admire the great courage and rage displayed by Mr Bush during his two-term tenure. Everything he took sportively and squarely. In this last incident, really it was awsome to observe the way Mr Bush gracefully ducked to buck the shoes hurled at him by an Iraqui, that too with such an amazing precision of perfect movement. Mr Bush has been always in his full senses, thanks to the 9/11 terror played on the pride of the US. Really Mr Bush should be declared, he aptly deserves too, as the Best International Sportsman of the Century.
Hats off to Mr Bush!
